5DF TTV now with ActiveSteer all-wheel steering technology

DEUTZ-FAHR already presented its first narrow tractor with continuous transmission with the 5DS TTV series last year. In the spring, the German tractor manufacturer added the two new models 5DV and 5DF TTV to the series, now offering three compact outer widths for any application (from 1,077 mm for the 5DV models, from 1,267 mm for the 5DS TTV and from 1,441 mm for the wider 5DF models).

The special tractors are equipped with a number of technological innovations which greatly facilitate working with special crops such as in vineyards and orchards or for gardening and landscaping. The highlights are the newly developed cab with a level floor and a completely new operating concept, a new powerful hydraulic system and the optionally available front axle with independent suspension for top-class driving comfort.

Just in time for Agritechnica, DEUTZ-FAHR now adds another highlight to the 5DF TTV models – the new ActiveSteer all-wheel steering technology.
The ActiveSteer all-wheel steering technology enables working in tight spaces and offers a substantially smaller turning radius than with conventional machines, whereby the track width and the wheelbase are retained with the conventional rear axle.
Thanks to the new rear axle, the rear wheels achieve a steering angle of 20°. Their position is controlled by an electronic control unit which allows the operator to choose between different operating modes.

The movement of the rear wheels is adapted to that of the front wheels using the proportional mode. This contributes to a substantial reduction of the turning radius without affecting the stability of the machine. Crab steering is particularly useful for working on hills or for applications with the lifting mast in tight spaces. This allows the rear and front wheels to be aligned in the same direction. In “Delayed” mode, on the other hand, all wheels are steered proportionally, but the steering motion on the rear wheels is slightly delayed. This operating mode is particularly useful for towing trailers and towed attachments. Thanks to the operating mode, they remain in the same track as the tractor without excessively reducing the turning radius. In addition to these three automated steering modes, the steering angle of the rear wheels can be controlled manually and blocked as required, to balance the downward gliding of the rear axle on hills or to block it in the central position for road transport.
The new models are available ready for the autumn season at Deutz-Fahr dealerships.
